*There was once a family of a father, mother and beautiful daughters. They lived in a hut in the middle of the forest and were very poor.

*Then, one day, the father left his family and told them he would return with money, jewels and wonderful things. He essentially wanted his family to be rich.

*After walking through the forest the man came across a fairy, who he told that he was seeking riches. She turned him into a goose- which really left me hanging for a second.

*Disappointed, the father wept. He then noticed his reflection in the water, in which he saw feathers of gold.

*He began flying home and giving a golden feather to his family every time they needed one, though it was only one at a time and he only gave his family another when the original was spent.

*One day the mother decided she would pluck all of the feathers, and when she did, they all turned white. The goose could no longer fly. He was apparently charmed by the fairy so that if his feathers were taken by force, they would no longer be gold.

*The wife, obviously unaware of who the goose was, gave the goose little food and water after that.

*Eventually his feathers grew back, but were white forever, and he flew away to live happily ever after with other birds.
