Learning About Time Strategies!

After reading two of the suggested articles on procrastination and time-management, I found each of my chosen readings to be useful in their own ways.

I began by reading The Important Habit of Just Starting by Jory Mackay. I found this article particularly interesting because rather than beginning by offering solutions to an unknown problem, Mackay begins by informing his readers of the psychological and unconscious choices they make that lead to procrastination. I found the ideals on benefit vs. effort extremely relatable, and realized that I am always limiting my opportunities by over-sizing the potential effort exhaustion in my head. The article purposes a simple fix to this through a low-pressure, self-accountability system of simply starting a task. Thinking back on other projects I have done, starting was always the hardest and most essential part of the process. Once I begin a project, the desire to finish grows inside me like a fire and I can hardly stop until it's done.

The second article I chose was How to Beat Procrastination by Caroline Webb, which I found informative in it's use of a step-by-step process for being productive. Things often get clouded and unclear when trying to pre-perceive doing a project that involves multiple phases of completion. This article informs readers of exactly what to do to self-motivate and begin working on their goal/project, as well as how to maintain a productive interest.

In summary, I found both articles very insightful and will refer to them in times where I lack motivation. I can see myself potentially struggling to work ahead because deadlines make things seem like you have so much time. My plan for time management is really just to stick to my schedule, but I will likely need the outlined steps in these articles to get myself working ahead.
