Reading Notes: Ramayana C
*Following the advice of Kabandha, Rama and his brother go and search for the monkey-king, Sugriva. They also meet Hanuman, the monkey-god (regarded as one of Rama's most faithful followers)
*Sugriva asks for Rama's help to fight Vali in battle; Tara is Vali's chief wife (mother to their son Angada) She asks Vali not to go fight Rama
*Rama kills Vali by sneaking up on him (this is controversial in Ramayana interpretation because it's dishonorable)
*Sugriva, being Vali's brother, joins Tara in grieving... which is weird. He then helps Rama find Sita, but Rama can't go because his exile prevents him from entering a city. After the rainy season, Rama is frustrated and makes Sugriva enlist his monkey army to find Sita (and other's help like Hanuman and even Vali's son????)
*Jatayu's brother says Ravana took Sita to Lanka
*Hanuman arrives at the castle that Ravana is in, finds him sleeping but cannot find Sita... he eventually finds her in a garden guarded by Rakshasas. He eventually witnesses Ravana try to convince Sita to marry him and not Rama
*Hanuman, after meeting Sita for the first time, is eventually captured by Ravana's powerful son, Indrajit; Ravana sets Hanuman's tail on fire. A prayer grows the flames and Lanka burns. He finds Sita safe and reports to his monkey army.
*Hanuman rejoins Rama and the forces to march on Lanka... Ravana's court decides if they should give Sita back but his generals want to fight. Ravana's brother, Vibhishana, joins Rama's forces when his brother will not back down.
