Feedback In:
Overall, I would rate the feedback I've received as a 7/10. For the most part, peoples' comments have been very uplifting and complimentary! Of course, I appreciate the positivity, but the most helpful comments have been the ones that make concrete suggestions either about word choices or plot points. I love when people approach feedback gently, but I feel as though many of our classmates feel uncomfortable giving helpful feedback due to an obligation to positivity.
Feedback Out:
I would also rate my own feedback and suggestions as a 7/10. I have made attempts to really point out things that could be added or improved, but I've used a lot of unnecessary compliments as well. I think a positive foundation is really important when giving feedback, but the effort to be positive should never get in the way of helpful criticism. The best feedback technique, in my opinion, is "WWW" technique, because it establishes the positive aspects first and still gives a lot of opportunity to make suggestions. Overall, other stories and, especially, writing feedback has given me plenty of ideas for my own future writing.
Blog Comments:
I really appreciated the many introduction posts because they are so interesting and easy to comments on. I'm a very sociable person and love to chit-chat! When reading various stories/projects, I've actually recognized most of the blog designs, images, font choices, and etc. in other peoples' pages. These elements make me feel as though I do have a sense of who most of classmates are!
Looking Forward:
In the future, I want to use the "WWW" technique in every comment I leave- even the shorter ones and the introduction comments. I think that it is a fabulous manner in which someone can have more helpful, intentional comments/feedback. I also think it solves the problem of over-bearing positivity. I've made subtle changes to my blog design over time, but I think my comment wall could use some decoration!

I've chosen this particular "feedback cat" because it hits home with my personal experiences. As a vocal major with profession aspirations, I do a lot of listening to older, very experienced singers and expect to sound just like them. With so much focus on the future, I lose focus on the things I can improve now and get stuck at the same level for long periods of time. Feedback is all about the road you're on- not the destination.
